Pierce Cassidy
Pierce Cassidy was headed for law school when his heart told him to go a different route.
Cassidy was drawn to the Master of Global Management program because of the unique learning model at Royal Roads University and the diversity of students in the program - both in their cultures and their educational backgrounds.
"From the moment I arrived for Foundations Week I truly believed that this was the beginning of a personal, professional and spiritual journey," he says. "Along with building the skill set to succeed in the global marketplace, you grow as an individual and make lasting friendships with students from around the world."
Cassidy studied political science and history as an undergraduate student, but found the experience left much to be desired. With classes of more than 100 students, he was a number, lost in a sea of students, he says. At Royal Roads, his class is 32 people and he has a personalized relationship with the teachers and administrators in the program.
"The faculty, staff, administration and students at RRU are part of a family. The school's smaller size allows individuals to truly get to know their professors and the administration," he says. "The budding friendships I have been making have been incredible and, hopefully, lifelong."
Learning from the diverse group in his cohort, Cassidy reflects on how interconnected the world is becoming. Regardless of if you plan on working internationally or domestically, being surrounded by such diversity is extremely positive and educational, he says.
The on-campus experience adds a valuable dimension to his education as well. From morning jogs on Charlie's Trail, to taking a deep breath of fresh air as you look out over the Pacific to the mountains in Washington, U.S.A., there is a tranquil energy on campus.
"Royal Roads is easily one of the most beautiful campuses in the world; an environment so beautiful that it makes even the most stressful days on campus manageable."
