Students for Development Internship, Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada, MITACS ACCELERATE
Under the supervision of Dr. Jonathan Moran, Michelle conducted field research in the Eastern District of Sierra Leone, working with local communities to determine what factors had contributed to a recent decline in agricultural productivity.
With the assistance of MITACS and AUCC Students for Development funding, Michelle was able to spend a total of six months in Sierra Leone, doing quantitative analysis of environmental health indicators on five test sites, and conducting interviews with local farmers to gain perspective on the socioeconomic context.
