Marc Tassé has a Rolodex of global contacts.
The names reflect the students he met in the Master of Global Management at Royal Roads University, a business program that brought students from around the world together to learn about global perspectives and business that knows no borders.
"Learning to appreciate how other cultures do business is an invaluable asset to someone planning on expanding internationally," Tassé says. "The MGM gives us an understanding of some of the emerging cultures, but most importantly gives us valuable tools that enable us to analyze new cultures and ask the right questions to the right people."
The program has a large focus on cultural perspectives and understanding how business operates in different parts of the world, he says. Being able to learn alongside people who bring experience from different countries is invaluable. The learning is team based, and the lessons in time management and writing very real. What they are doing in the classroom directly reflects the realities of team management in the "real world," he adds.
"It is not presented as theories to be forgotten but to be analyzed, tried and experimented with in the classroom setting," he says. "Discussions bring forth the life and work experience of the other students, enhancing the learning beyond the textbooks and into the workplace."
When you combine that level of intense learning with the natural landscape of the Royal Roads campus students are in for a life-changing experience.
"The courses are designed to take us out of our comfort zone and push our limits. Perhaps it is vestige of the military college spirit that infuses the grounds," he says. "If you are serious about wanting to learn, are not just looking for a piece of paper but a challenge that will reward you for a lifetime, then this is the program for you."
