Developing the potential of today’s children to address tomorrow’s problems is one of the myriad strategies used to address environmental concerns. In order to develop programs for students in environmental education, it is important to gain an understanding of children’s orientations with regard to the natural environment.
The study used the New Environmental Paradigm (NEP), a research tool used to measure environmental worldviews, modified for use with children. This research is intended to be a starting point to help guide the quality and quantity of environmental education needed in communities with similar characteristics.
