The master’s degree program in professional communications has allowed me to communicate with far more clarity than ever before. I now look at all forms of media through a completely different lens than I did before starting this program.

RRU was strongly recommended by a trusted scholarly friend. I soon discovered that Royal Roads University is on the leading edge of education by integrating technology and learning in the field of communications. The communications industry is growing in complexity and I have spent most of my working life in this challenging field.

This program offers the luxury of access to experts in the field - Dr. Fred Fletcher, Profs. Jayne Rogers and David Black, and visiting lecturer Michael Keller come readily to mind. The professors exude an easy and authoritative manner while facilitating the learning process with a demanding group of mature, enthusiastic and gung-ho students who question their every statement.

Distance learning coupled with two short on-campus residencies afforded me the privilege of fulfilling a lifelong dream to acquire a higher education while actively participating in the world of everyday business.

I find the in-depth approach to course work extremely satisfying. I appreciate the blend of practice and theory and the recommended reading lists. It has been challenging and rewarding to work on a case study in a team environment.

It was great monitoring my own progress as I honed my writing skills and learned the craft of writing succinct and powerful essays.

Today I am questioning long-held personal beliefs as a result of my Royal Roads experience. It has been said that `culture` is one of the most complex words in the English language and now I find myself interested in topics like governance, accountability and how communication systems advance a culture of ethics in organizations.
