Bonnie Swift - MBA in Executive Management (MBA-EM)

I am a manager in an environmental engineering consulting firm catering to the oil-and-gas industry in Calgary. I started my division with a desk and a telephone and it’s become a million-dollar business.

I realized that to be a successful consultant, I’d have to understand the business side and to understand engineering in a business context. Engineers need consultants to help them get their great ideas out there. I hope to start my own management consulting firm to help people move on.

I decided on RRU because at my age it’s not just about going to university. I can’t take a year or two off. The flexibility of the program allows me to continue to run my business.

RRU will help me to understand my clients better and their needs as well as the global marketplace. I was attracted to RRU because it’s not just about business, but about the philosophy. It’s not just about me with a passion for the environment and wanting to do everything right, it’s about sustainability. I want to combine my background in environmental sustainability with the clients’ goals to achieve a balance. My company doesn’t only engage in reclamation but also in mitigation plans and environmental impact studies. Companies are becoming more proactive.
