ON CAMPUS

Today’s international business market requires professionals to have a perspective informed by practical experience and academic intelligence—the combination of skills necessary to managing the complexity and diversity of business in the global arena. The Master of Global Management (MGM) degree delivers a graduate level international business management education that prepares students to develop strong international managerial and entrepreneurial skills and competencies to succeed. With the opportunity to observe and learn inside and outside one’s culture and the education to work effectively with uncertainty and ambiguity, students gain an intelligent and informed perspective.

Students in the MGM program are given the choice of completing the program in 12 months with the International Industry Analysis Project Option, or completing in 18 months with the Canadian Internship Option. Both options emphasize “experiential learning” – the application of business knowledge.  Students will develop a broad range of international business skills while learning to work effectively with individuals from other cultures, regions and ideologies. The face-to-face and real-world project or “experiential” learning methodologies used allow students to gain an intelligent and informed perspective.

The International Industry Analysis Project Option focuses on the development of a comprehensive international business plan (IBP) for a new product or service. This capstone project serves to integrate all the content in the program, allowing the learner to comprehend the relationships among the various fields and to appreciate the complexity of the modern global business environment. Who it's for
The Master of Global Management Industry Analysis Project Option is an international business management degree designed specifically for professionals and entrepreneurs who want to perform with intelligence and savvy in the global workplace, but do not want to travel overseas for an internship. Ideally, students will have an undergraduate degree; at least two years work experience; keen curiosity about the world, and the motivation to develop competencies in international business issues. This masters' program is designed as a launch platform for an international business career.

Graduates will be ready for: an entry level position with a transnational corporation; to be a director of international marketing or international business development for a small or medium enterprise; to identify an international business opportunity, develop an international business plan, secure funding and launch an international new venture; or to work in social entrepreneurship either starting their own NGO or serving as a program officer offshore.  Some graduates may work for national or international governments, or go on for a doctorate degree in international management.
