The MA in Leadership program consists of two years of interdisciplinary study. In each year, students focus on relevant, real world problem-solving projects grounded in a rigorous theoretical understanding of the nature of today’s organizations and the changing role of leadership within them.
Through online and on-campus studies in areas such as systems thinking, organizational change, learning theories, action research and conflict resolution, graduates will be better equipped to create high performing workplaces by motivating, empowering and inspiring organizations and others to build healthier workplace environments that are critical to success.
In January 2011 a revised MA in Leadership program will be delivered.
Key revisions to the Leadership program include:
- shorter on-campus residencies balanced by virtual labs
- increased elective course choices
- the option of completing a thesis or an organizational leadership project
Critical elements of the Leadership program have been retained:
- the cohort and collaborative learning model
- competency based learning outcomes
- team teaching and integrated curriculum approach in residencies
- intensive feedback and assessment
- a focus on personal leadership and managing/leading change in organizations
Students are expected to assess their personal and organizational learning needs in order to place in context the content related to our seven core competencies:
- Personal Leadership
- Manage Own Learning and Change Processes and Enable Others’ Learning
- Communication
- Team Leadership and Group Facilitation
- Systems Thinking
- Organizational Leadership
- Organizational Inquiry and Research
