Outcomes

Students who enroll in this program must be prepared for intense periods of academic study.

The Thai-Canadian MA in Conflict Analysis and Management program provides the theoretical knowledge and skills defined as requirements for effective conflict management.

Graduates of the program will take the following competencies back to their workplace:

  • A culturally and context-sensitive orientation to the nature and dynamics of conflict
  • A capacity to recognize and analyze conflict using a broad range of mainstream and non-traditional theories in a variety of conflict settings
  • A capacity to communicate a critical analysis of a conflict situation orally, in writing, and using electronic media
  • An appreciation of the fundamental legal dimensions of the alternative dispute resolution field within the context of different legal philosophies and systems
  • An ability to use research methods to investigate situations of conflict and to propose recommendations as appropriate
  • An understanding of various methods of conflict management as applied in different cultural and international contexts, including negotiation, mediation, and other forms of third-party intervention such as arbitration, conciliation, fact-finding, and facilitation
  • An understanding of how to design, implement and evaluate interventions for dealing with conflict effectively, and
  • An awareness of the techniques and skills necessary to apply conflict management theories and practices in a variety of domestic and international settings.
