Vancouver Island project management scholarship established - News Release - Project Management Institute Vancouver Island Chapter
Thanks to the Project Management Institute Vancouver Island Chapter, an annual scholarship has been established for students enrolled in the Project Management Graduate Certificate Program at Royal Roads University (RRU).
The program, offered through the RRU Centre for Applied Leadership and Management (CALM) will award one student each year a $2,500 scholarship, and a one-year local and global PMI membership.
PMI Vancouver Island Chapter President, Dr. Dale Christenson, PMP, wanted to create a legacy for the Chapter that exceeded the term of the annually elected Board. “The creation of this scholarship, which I hope is one of many with Vancouver Island universities, is the realization of this desire,” says Dr. Christenson. “Thanks to the work of the current Board of Directors, the Chapter will now and for the foreseeable future be in a position to support students who are motivated to learn more about the discipline of project management.”
“Project management skills are in high demand in the market place,” says Alison Meredith, RRU’s director of the Centre for Applied Leadership and Management. “The PMI Vancouver Island Chapter is to be commended for helping to advance the field of project management in the workplace and the community, while ensuring the development of the best and brightest of future project management professionals.”
Students from Vancouver Island are given preference, and must submit a brief statement explaining their interest in project management and their need for financial support to enter the RRU graduate certificate program. Applications are now being accepted for the January 2009 intake. For more information about the program, please visit the RRU website.
