For immediate release – November 20, 2008
Victoria, B.C. – Carollyne Conlinn, an associate faculty member in the Centre for Applied Leadership and Management at Royal Roads University, has won the 2008/09 Canadian Coach of the Year Award. Conlinn’s Excelerator Coaching System has become the core curriculum for the Graduate Executive Coaching program at Royal Roads University, the only graduate executive coaching program offered by a Canadian university.
“Carollyne is such a leader in the world of coaching with an excellent reputation. She is a scholar practitioner who is highly regarded as a teacher and a coach,” said Alison Meredith, Director of the Centre for Applied Leadership and Management. “We are very proud to have Carollyne on our faculty.”
Conlinn, who is also the founder of and a partner in Full Spectrum Coaching in Vancouver, has personally taught hundreds of exceptional Canadian executive coaches. Her Great Question Game, which introduces groups to coaching, has been very popular with managers and business leaders.
“Canadian coaches have a unique role to play in the global dialogue for leadership in today’s trying times. They are key contributors to the critical conversations of hope that are needed for personal, business, and political resilience,” said Conlinn in accepting the award at the annual conference of the International Coach Federation in Montreal last week.
The award was established as a vehicle to (a) promote excellence in coaching; (b) educate the coaching consumer about the importance of hiring trained coaching professionals; (c) inform the public about the work that coaches are doing; and (d) draw attention to the training and credentialing that personify professional coaches.
The runners-up were Bob Hancox, Nanaimo, B.C., creator of Coaching Conversations™; and Garry Schleifer, Toronto, Ont., corporate/leadership coach and co-founder of choice, the magazine for professional coaching worldwide.
