Donation from BCom grad creates RRU's first micro-credit fund
Thirty years ago, Mohammed Al Moammar created Al Moammar Information Systems. It is now one of the most successful IT companies in the Middle East. Moammar passed away in March 2008 and, in his memory, his son has donated $40,000 to Royal Roads University to create the Mohammed Al Moammar Microcredit Fund Award.
"When I was a BCom student at Royal Roads, I came to know many potential entrepreneurs who had fantastic ideas for future businesses but no source of investor funding to help them make their visions a reality," says Fahad. “It is for this reason that I have decided to make this offer to my university.”
Fahad Moammar was at fall convocation November 6 to receive his degree. Now living in Saudi Arabia, he is head of marketing strategy for a major IT company.
