Ted Wykes joined the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management at Royal Roads University in 2007. Before that, Wykes taught for 15 years in the School of Tourism at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops and six years in the Tourism Management Program at Fleming College in Peterborough, Ontario.
His industry experience includes working in various Canadian Pacific (now Fairmont) Hotels across Canada, marketing for the Ministry of Tourism in Alberta and representing the City of Calgary as the Convention Sales Manager. He has also consulted on tourism education projects in Jamaica, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam and India.
Wykes has focused much of his research on the development of occupational standards for various positions in the special event management and convention management fields. He is co-author of Meetings and Conventions: A Planning Guide.
