Stephen Long PhD - Faculty of Management

Stephen Long teaches organizational development and human resources management. He earned his MBA from Dalhousie University specializing in organizational behaviour. He worked in business for some years before returning to academia to earn a PhD in organizational theory at the University of Strathclyde. His doctorate was entitled Why Executives Attend Canadian University-Based Executive Development Programs.

Long worked for Xerox as an administrative manager in Ottawa and in the Public Service Commission of Canada as a management trainer. He has consulted for Currie, Coopers and Lybrand and was a partner in his own human resource development firm in Vancouver.

Prior to joining Royal Roads University, Long was with the Faculty of Administration at the University of Regina and the Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario where he taught management communication and human resources development.

His published work has appeared in Business Quarterly and the Journal of Management Development and his book Business Communication: Process and Practice is used in universities and colleges across Canada.
