Lenore Newman is the Canada Research Chair in Food Security and Environment at the University of the Fraser Valley, and supervises graduate students at Royal Roads University.

Newman came to Royal Roads as a post-doctoral scholar with Ann Dale’s Canada Research Chair research team and became a core faculty member in 2006. She has extensive experience in the area of renewable energy and the social impacts of climate change.

Her research focuses on food security and sustainable development, and where infrastructure and the natural environment meet in an urban setting. Newman is interested in how humans perceive and interact with the natural world encountered in their day-to-day lives.
