Outcomes

Graduates will acquire the following competencies as a result of their learning experience and personal development in the program:

  • the ability to apply theoretical knowledge of human security and peacebuilding in a wide range of political, social and economic contexts;
  • the ability to identify sources of conflict and threats to human security and be able to respond to these situations in an appropriate manner;
  • the ability to function effectively within international organizations and be able to navigate and utilize formal and informal networks to advance their work;
  • the capacity to work effectively in local, national, and international systems, and with various actors;
  • a capacity to work effectively and confidently in multi-cultural environments;
  • an awareness of how to apply various conflict resolution skills at the personal, organization and community levels;
  • the capacity to assume an effective leadership role to stabilize and set the path towards peaceful resolution of conflict where necessary and when appropriate;
  • the ability to exhibit excellent interpersonal communications skills;
  • a capacity to apply critical thinking skills in highly complex situations and formulate an informed and effective response;
  • an ability to apply the principles and techniques of appropriate research designs and methodologies with a special emphasis on action research, data gathering, interpretation and qualitative methods for program assessment and evaluation purposes.
