Students for Development Internship

Launched in 2005, the Students for Development (SFD) program supports senior-level university students (master's through to PhD students at RRU) to participate in internships for a minimum of three months in partner developing countries.

Deadline: May 28, 2010 (must submit application to RRU's University Life)

 

Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada  14 x $17,500
J. Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarship Masters
The program seeks to develop research skills and assist in the training of highly-qualified personnel by supporting students in the social sciences and humanities who demonstrate a high standard of achievement in undergraduate and early graduate studies.  This program helps train Canada's researchers and leaders of tomorrow.

Deadline: December 1st each year (application available in the fall)

 

Natural Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada 9 x $17,300
Alexander Graham Bell Canada Graduate Scholarship Masters
The program seeks to develop research skills and assist in the training of highly-qualified personnel by supporting students in the natural sciences and and engineering who demonstrate a high standard of achievement in undergraduate and early graduate studies.  This program helps train Canada's researchers and leaders of tomorrow.

Deadline: mid-November (application available in the fall)

 

Industrial Postgraduate Scholarship Masters  up to $21,000
Industrial Postgraduate Scholarships provide financial support for highly qualified natural science and engineering graduates. The support allows them to gain research experience in industry while undertaking advanced studies in Canada. These scholarships are aimed at encouraging students to consider research careers in industry where they will be able to contribute to strengthening Canadian innovation.

Deadline: Apply before or during first 12 months of master's study

 

Canadian Institutes of Health Research 1 of $17,500
Sir Frederick Banting and Dr. Charles Best Canada Graduate Scholarships
The program seeks to develop research skills and assist in the training of highly-qualified personnel by supporting students in the health sciences field who demonstrate a high standard of achievement in undergraduate and early graduate studies.  This program helps train Canada's researchers and leaders of tomorrow.

Deadline: December 1st each year (application available in the fall)
 
Trudeau Foundation Doctoral Scholarship
The Trudeau Foundation seeks to support doctoral candidates pursuing research on one or more of the Foundation's four themes: human rights and social justice, responsible citizenship, Canada and the world, and humans and their natural environment.

RRU can nominate up to eight candidates to the National competition.

Mackenzie King Scholarships
Mackenzie King Open Scholarship 1 x $10,000
Open to graduates of any Canadian university who engage in (commence or continue) postgraduate study in any field, in Canada or elsewhere.

Deadline: February 1 each year

 

Mackenzie King Travelling Scholarship 4 x $11,000
Open to graduates of any Canadian university who engage in (commence or continue) postgraduate study, in the United States or the United Kingdom, of international relations or industrial relations (including the international or industrial relations aspects of law, history, politics and economics).

Deadline: February 1 each year

 

Irving K. Barber Scholarships
One World Scholarship  normally up to 4 x $1,000 to $3,000
For BC students who are enrolled in a program of study leading to a credential that is at least one year in length and who have been accepted into a study or work abroad program that either forms an integral part of the student’s credential studies or carries academic credit recognized by their home institution.  The study or work abroad program must be at least three weeks in length but no longer than one year.

Pacific Horizons Scholarship normally 1 x $1,000
For BC students who are enrolled in a program of study leading to a credential that is at least one year in length and who have made arrangements to participate in cultural or language learning studies abroad.  An eligible study abroad activity is experiential in nature and normally does not carry academic credit and/or is not a key part of the student’s academic program. This activity is typically shorter (less than four months) and involves language acquisition and/or learning about another country and its culture.
