Introduction to Conflict Management Processes

Course Description:

CAMN 520: Addresses the theoretical and conceptual underpinnings of types of interventions as well as the practical and ethical issues practitioners encounter in applying various intervention strategies or approaches. Students consider conceptual material about intervention processes and apply their learnings in case study exercises and simulations, gaining an appreciation for the skills needed in various intervention strategies. Intervention tools and approaches discussed include negotiation (power, rights, and interest based), international diplomatic initiatives, reconciliation, and mediation (structural, interest based, transformative, and evaluative), and adjudication. (4 credits)
