Ecosystem Science and Management
Course Description:
ENVR 505: Examines basic ecological principles and concepts applicable at different scales from individual species to landscapes and ecosystems and also introduces basic tools of environmental management. The course provides an understanding of how ecological principles and managerial tools, as the philosophical underpinnings of ecological sustainability, can be applied to case studies of commonly encountered challenges of ecosystem management. This will be accomplished using readings, class work, case studies, and independent and group research or review assignments. (3 credits)
