Disaster and Emergency Trends: Insights and Issues

Course Description:

DEMN 600: In this course, students work together to examine the international perspective of disaster and emergency management. They focus on disaster and emergency as a tool of foreign aid and development; examining the impact of globalization, poverty, gender, corruption, and the politics of disaster assistance.Students discuss the challenges confronting the field of disaster and emergency management; with a particular emphasis on new, emerging threats to national, international and human security. (3 credits)

 *Pre-requisites DEMN520 and DEMN530 or approval of Program Head.
