Disaster and Emergency Management in Theory

Course Description:

DEMN 500: This introductory course offers students an interdisciplinary overview and application of leading emergency, disaster, crisis and risk management theories, models, and concepts. This course will prepare them to critically examine the performance of the Canadian emergency management "system", identify potential structural or systemic discrepancies, and postulate root causes. Students will explore current and future national and international risks, issues, and management philosophies and approaches. (3 credits)
