Chancellor’s Community Recognition Award Nomination Guidelines

Royal Roads University welcomes assistance from members of the public in recognizing community leaders who have given distinguished service to the Greater Victoria community in a way that complements the university’s own community-oriented mission.

Nominations for the Chancellor’s Community Recognition Award will be accepted on an ongoing basis and the nominators of candidates selected to receive an award will be invited to attend events celebrating the award with the RRU board of governors.

Criteria for Chancellor’s Community Recognition Award

• Recipients are individuals or organizations in Greater Victoria
• Recipients will have demonstrated effective action in addressing one or more community issues while exemplifying one or more of the following principles:
  - Leadership
  - Sustainability
  - Entrepreneurship
  - Conflict management
  - Communication 
• Recipients have not previously received an honorary degree or the Chancellor’s Community Recognition Award from Royal Roads University

Nominations should include the following:

• Name, address, phone number and e-mail address of nominator
• Name of nominee, including the name of a contact if the nominee is an organization
• Contact information for the nominee
• A description (two pages maximum)of how the nominee meets the above criteria for the Chancellor’s Community Recognition Award
• Supporting documentation and letters of support are welcome but not required. Please restrict supporting documentation to three pages and provide no more than three letters of support, each no more than one page long.

Award nominations will be reviewed by the university’s board of governors, which will select the recipients. Nominations may be held for consideration for future ceremonies, so the board requests that nominators not inform potential award recipients of their nomination.
